ACTi Enabled British International School in Cairo (BISC) into IP Surveillance

As a famous school, British International School has a big campus. In order to protect a safe environment to their students, British International School was looking for high quality surveillance system. ACTi's unified solution therefore has enabled the British International's school incorporate IP based CCTV systems. The new system solves the distance limitation between the cameras and the control room. By deploying IP system, it provides simple and cost effective solution over LAN environments, while keeping the performance.

The system consists of 44 IP Box Cameras, ACM 5711, 4 outdoor IP Speed Dome Cameras, CAM-6630 (35X optical zoom), and managed by NVR Enterprise for the first phase. This is installed outside the campus main building and it is planned to extend to cameras which are far away from the control room where only optical fiber cables existed and sent over the school LAN. At the Control room site, video cameras are displayed over 2, 40" LCD large screens.   Also two NVR workstations are located at the security manager room and the other at the school's Principle Office. British International School is satisfied with ACTi's MPEG-4 IP products provide D1 (720x576) resolution at 25 frames per second (PAL) and utilize low bandwidth and storage size. To provide a transparent RS-485 tunnel within ACTi's video servers provides ease of monitoring from different areas. Overall, this solution significantly decreases the installation costs of networking and increases the flexibility for the installation of monitors and cameras, as it uses the existing infra structure for the school.
