802 Global launches high performance wireless bodyworn camera at the Emergency Services Show

Reading, UK - 24th November 2009 - 802 Global, specialists in developing communications products to meet the needs of the emergency services, today announced the launch of its Samix Camera System, an innovative new wireless bodyworn camera and receiver designed to be used by first responder personnel. The Samix Camera System is capable of delivering real time video across an incident-ground, including to the incident command unit, even in non line-of-sight environments. Full details and demonstrations of the 802 Global Samix Camera System will be available on the company's stands 167 and outside stand 68 at the Emergency Services Show, Coventry, 24th - 25th November 2009.

The 802 Global Samix Camera System comprises of two elements, the COFDM Video Transmitter (CVT) and the COFDM Video Receiver (CVR) unit. Images can be relayed from the CVT directly to a CVR unit where they can be viewed by other responder personnel such as sector commanders. Images can also be sent via radio mesh to the incident command unit. In turn, images can be further distributed using satellite technology to remote locations such as HQ or Gold Command.

Mark Calkin, head of 802 Global's Special Projects Group and responsible for developing the Samix Camera System commented, "Using 802 Global's Samix Camera System and radio mesh technology gives commanders the ability to see precisely what is happening on the ground as the incident develops, enabling them to make better informed decisions. By being able to see exactly what their front line personnel are experiencing, command staff can also immediately identify when a front line responder needs assistance, thereby ensuring the safety of their teams. This new product has undergone rigorous testing, and its range and performance is a significant improvement on previous camera systems that have been on the market."

The new 802 Global Samix Camera System is part of the company's Samix System which incorporates a range of products including radio mesh solutions to enable incident-wide video, voice and data communications. 802 Global also provide complete bespoke command unit design and build services, as well as satellite communications equipment to enable mission critical links between command units and Gold Command or other remote locations.

"From our experience working with a number of Fire and Rescue Services, we have been able to develop a complete system to support first response organisations in how they deal with developing events safely and more efficiently. This latest wireless bodyworn camera product represents a real breakthrough in delivering high quality video direct from the front line of an incident, and ensures that the whole command chain has access to the highest quality real-time information as an incident develops," said Calkin.
