ATEME MPEG-4 encoders integrated by THALES in reconnaissance vehicles

Bièvres - France, December 2009. The company THALES COMMUNICATIONS BELGIUM has chosen ATEME VSIP MPEG-4 encoders for their data network product intended for use in the Reconnaissance Vehicles of the Belgian and Luxembourg army.

"The reliability of the ATEME encoders and their capacity to be integrated into heterogeneous system environments was essential in our choice of partner for our VETRONICS range of products" explained Olivier CROIX, product manager at Thales.

The VSIP encoder allows MPEG-4 encoding and the distribution of video streams resulting from cameras installed on the vehicle. The availability of all these video sources at anytime on the internal network of the vehicle allows the operators to protect the personal, the platform and the mission. The associated recordings give strength of proof during missions for preserving the peace. The transmission on HF low band lines allow captured images to be transmitted to other reconnaissance vehicles or to the command post.

These vehicles are today ready to be successfully deployed in the field.
