KBC adds Power over Ethernet to its network transmission range
New PoE media converter heads up new range KBC Networks, provider of industrial transmission equipment, has introduced PoE (Power over Ethernet) to its network transmission range. The first of the new products is a fully-ruggedized 10/100 Ethernet media converter with PoE+ that conforms to the higher power specification necessary for PTZ and dome cameras. The new KBC FTLS1 is fully-compliant with the IEEE 802.3at specification and acts as a PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) providing 25.5W @ 48Vdc. The unit supports transmission of an Ethernet channel over either one or two, multimode or singlemode optical fibres and with full-duplex operation, it enables transmission distances in excess of 30km on singlemode fiber. Iain Deuchars, MD KBC Networks EMEA commented on the new product series, "We're seeing an increasing demand for our industrial IP products. As well as adding the PoE unit to the range, we're also concentrating on expanding our series of Ethernet switches and developing our ThruLinkTM VPN device."
