Samsung introduces 43x optical zoom network PTZ dome camera.

Samsung is claiming unrivalled 43x optical zoom capability in its new SNP-3430H network PTZ dome camera which it says will allow operators to capture fine detail of far away objects or people.

According to Samsung, the SNP-3430H enjoys an unprecedented 3.2-138.5mm focal range which allows operators to view 600 TV lines, colour images of both close up and far away objects. The company expects the new camera will find a home in airports, sea ports, car parks and sports stadiums.

"The flexibility and performance of the SNP-3430H has impressed everybody who has seen it in operation," said Peter Ainsworth, Senior Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. "In practical terms, a 3.2-138.5mm focal range means that at a distance of 10m from the camera, an operator will be able to observe a scene 5m wide and 4.5m tall, whilst a human being will be clearly visible at 100m from the camera when the lens is set to 138.5mm."

The SNP-3430H, which is weather proof to IP66, is equipped with an extensive range of features including Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS) to help combat excessive vibration from strong winds if the  dome  is mounted on a pole or on a tall building.

Incorporating  Samsung's A1 DSP chipset, the SNP-3430H also benefits from the use of Progressive Scan technology which prevents blurring upon playback of fast moving subjects and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology which is able to balance images in challenging lighting conditions.

Intelligent Video Analytic (IVA) functionality offers optical tripwire, enter/exit direction detection and an appear/disappear function to detect changes within a pre-defined area. IVA also has a scene change tampering function which creates an alert if, for example, paint is sprayed on a camera lens or there is unauthorised movement of a camera away from its usual field of view.

The SNP-3430H can transmit real time video at up to 4CIF (704 x 576) image size in H.264 or MPEG-4 mode. It can also simultaneously transmit high quality MJPEG images, making real-time monitoring possible whilst recording high-resolution images.

Other key features include:

• Bi directional audio allowing interactive communication between the SNP-3430H and a control room.
• hPOE (High Power over Ethernet) reduces installation costs by providing both power and video/audio transmissions via a single Ethernet cable.
• 12 user defined polygonal programmable privacy zones.

• A built-in scheduler allows six daily timed actions to be pre-programmed which reduces the burden on operators, e.g. setting the dome to 'tour' at specific times.

The SNP -3430H is available with a wide range of mounting options such as walls, ceiling and corner brackets.
