See Vicon’s new Surveyor™ HD megapixel dome camera at Intersec 2011

The new SurveyorTM HD megapixel dome camera from Vicon Vicon at Intersec 2011 - Stand 112C Hall 3

will be on show at Intersec 2011 in Dubai on 16th-18th January.

Don't miss this opportunity to see the company's new megapixel dome camera combined with the very latest ViconNetTM version 6, Vicon's highly acclaimed video management software platform, along with the Virtual Matrix Display Controller which now supports HD video.

SurveyorTM HD PTZ dome camera

The SurveyorTM HD combines a powerful day/night megapixel camera equipped with 18x optical zoom in Vicon's proven high-performance Surveyor dome system, delivering the ability to pan, tilt and zoom into an HD image with 4x the resolution of standard definition cameras.

Support of H.264, MPEG-4 or JPEG encoding provides a choice for obtaining excellent quality video to fit any situation. The dome supports ONVIF open architecture connectivity to enable integration with a wide range of video management solutions.

The Surveyor HD provides a choice of H.264, MPEG-4 and M-JPEG encoding options to maximize both recording quality and storage efficiency.

Its 4.7-84.6 mm varifocal lens provides superb sharpness and excellent sensitivity.

The camera's digital noise reduction minimises video interference and triggering of false alarms while Wide Dynamic Range provides excellent contrast in difficult light conditions.

"An increasing number of security system designers are recognising the need to pan and zoom within live HD video," said Steve Batt, Vicon's International Sales Manager.

"Vicon is uniquely positioned to deliver a camera with this ability. Our highly-successful Surveyor line has been proven effective and reliable in even the most challenging environments and we're pleased to add HD video to the benefits these cameras provide."

Virtual Matrix Controller

Vicon's new Virtual Matrix Display Controller is both a matrix command/control centre software interface and a hardware decoder that enables an operator to direct high-quality ViconNet remote network video streams to up to six monitors. No external decoders are required.

Control of additional monitors is as easy as connecting additional units to the network providing a scalable, cost effective management solution. The VMDC offers a new level of performance and flexibility for virtual matrix control - providing support for HD video, H.264, 16 x 9 monitors, more video streams and more display layout options. The design enables each operator to display any camera on any monitor connected to the network.

Camera selection may be controlled via a dedicated IP keypad or by using the graphical user interface. It also supports a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). It is available in both tower and 4RU rack-mount configurations. The built-in decoder eliminates the need for external hardware decoders.

Latest version of open-platform VMS

ViconNet Version 6 is the latest version of Vicon's video management software. ViconNet V6 offers full support for H.264 encoding and is compatible with a wide range of third-party network and megapixel cameras.

Its support of ONVIF standards provides users with many options for integration with consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) network video and computer hardware.

A new web browser interface allows users of ViconNet V6 to view live and recorded video from any PC without the use of special software or plug-ins.

Other additions with Version 6 include a unique "Video Vault" feature that allows for more efficient use of long-term storage and an "Archive Wizard" that makes it easy to create authenticated archives that play back on any PC using the embedded player.

ViconNet V6 is available as a software-only solution or may be ordered pre-loaded onto NVRs, Workstations or hybrid DVRs.

"ViconNet Version 6 expands upon the open-platform architecture that we have offered our customers for the past several years, now with the added benefit of full H.264 support," said Tim Martin, Vicon's Engineering Director. "Version 6 delivers even more flexibility to integrate with 3rd party hardware and software, along with added features that improve the user experience."
