Theia introduces new SL940 telephoto lens at Intersec Dubai

Theia Technologies has announced the expansion of its line of high quality megapixel lenses with its new SL940 telephoto lens. It will be on show at Intersec Dubai 2011 (16-18 January 2011).

Theia Technologies' new SL940 telephoto lens

The new SL940 lens offers:

36 degree to 7 degree HFOV with its 9-40mm varifocal range
4.5x optical zoom for high detail images
Full 5 megapixel resolution for a crisp image
IR corrected for use with day/night cameras
Compact - at 49.5mm fits in most mini-domes
CS-mount for 1/3-inch, 1/2.7-inch HD, and 1/2.5-inch imagers
Available in manual and DC autoiris version

About the company

Theia Technologies was established in 2006 to develop ultra wide angle lenses without distortion. Theia has several issued and pending US and foreign patents for lens technologies.

Theia was founded by two co-workers at projector manufacturer InFocus. The co-founders, Jeff Gohman and Mark Peterson, both worked on an ultra slim rear projection TV developed by InFocus and sold briefly through the RCA Scenium line. It was a 61 inch diagonal projection TV, only 7 inches thick, and it could be hung on the wall. In 2004 the TV won Popular Science Magazine's "Best 100 products of the year" award.

Shortly after the market introduction, prices for plasma and LCD TVs fell rapidly and the sizes increased dramatically, making the TV unviable. Theia was created to continue developing markets for the ultra wide angle lens by taking it into camera markets such as security surveillance and machine vision.
