The C4i is an advanced surveillance system that allows normal phones such as the Blackberry to be used as a monitoring deviceBCB International is now working with the creators of the popular smart phone Blackberry, and Research in Motion (RIM) to bring a software application called the C4i (Command, Control, Communication, Computers & Intelligence) to support modern police forces and security professionals globally.

BCB International is known for being the designer and manufacturer of protective and survival equipment for future soldiers.

The C4i is an advanced surveillance system that allows normal phones such as the Blackberry to be used as a monitoring device. It enables police forces to cost-effectively enhance public services.

The C4i is not just another tracking device; it further supports security professional by offering operational planning and security functions for emergency situations. It allows monitoring of personnel in high-risk areas, as software is embedded in the phone and transmitted back to HQ. This allows much more efficient command and control of personnel on the ground.

This innovation brings together the very best software coding team and specialists in counter terrorism and security technology, to develop and design a revolutionary solution.

The C4i works by installing a small piece of code into a mobile handset, which then communicates over global networks to provide controllers with a complete view of operations. With the C4i, every pre-planned move is seen in almost real-time.

The C4i offers several features:

Autolocate

  • The Autolocate software when added to a standard Blackberry allows the ability to produce an audit trail of the location of police officers.
  • The option allows senior officers to locate, track, monitor and support officers in the field.
  • Provides a better co-ordination of resources, which enhances the security and protection of offices.
  • This is quick and easy to operate.
  • C4i mapping is ideal for Personal Protection Groups working in high-risk areas.

CaptureCam

  • The CaptureCam utilizes the high-resolution camera on a Blackberry, and   enables officer to take a photograph of an incident and instantly transmit the image to a secure site.
  • The CaptureCam ensures that the image is time stamped and geo-tagged, reducing administration.

AutoAlarm

  • For personal security the C4i is perfect for offering Police Officers with the option of AutoAlarm. The AutoAlarm raises an alarm and requests immediate back up.
  • With the use of GPS the Control room can see the Officers location, and hear what is happening to gauge the situation and allow fast responses to be made.

AutoWipe

  • The C4i has the function whereby if the phone is lost or misplaced, all data stored can be deleted remotely.

Barry Davies, the architect of C4i-global, added, "With the rise in crime and terrorism, we at BCB are keen to create innovative products that can help our police officers to carry out their job efficiently and expand operational capabilities. The C4i has several features to enhance the support available for the police force, ranging from the CaptureCam to AutoWipe. As the software is based on the stand alone or web based system, it can provide mapping and communications where no internet/GPRS/GSM is available."

This smart use of technology to support officers is now available to download. Information on the product can be seen at www.bcbin.com.
