Visitors to Vicon’s stand at Intersec 2010 in Dubai on 17th-19th January will see a demonstration of the full power of ViconNet 5, the latest version of Vicon’s highly acclaimed video management software platform which enables users to take full advantage of Video over IP.
ViconNet 5, which encompasses the latest compression techniques and offers intelligent video analytics, can provide complete video system management from any PC on the network. It lends itself to almost limitless user configurations, viewing options and graphical mapping.

The new Vicon Kollector Force and Kollector Strike H.264 ready digital video recorders
The exhibition will be the first opportunity to see the latest in a hugely successful line of Vicon Kollector Digital Video Recorders all manufactured in the USA and offering class leading features and performance.
The two new models, both of which are H.264 ready, will offer faster and more powerful video processing than previous Kollector models.
The Kollector Strike DVR with its compact 1 RU chassis, sports not only a new look but also serves as a network recorder with the ability to view, control and record local and remote IP devices. This includes third party IP and megapixel cameras used as part of a ViconNet open-platform system. With pre-loaded ViconNet 5.6 software, the Kollector Strike which is H.264 ready, is engineered to support up to 480 fps across 16 channels at full resolution.
The Kollector Force DVR is packed with powerful features all within a compact 3 RU chassis. It can be used as a total system control station, capable of viewing and controlling both local and remote network cameras and is designed for complete compatibility with the ViconNet open-platform network. The Kollector Force features pre-loaded ViconNet 5.6 software and has an integral analogue video matrix which switches 4 local inputs to 4 local outputs. It also has 16 analogue video looping outputs and two monitor outputs, one for VGA and the other DVI and is engineered to support up to 480 fps across 16 channels at full resolution..
Depending on the specific model both the Kollector Strike and Kollector Force have up to 6 TB on-board video storage available with the option of almost limitless additional storage capacity via external RAIDs. An internal DVD drive is provided as a backup storage option.
The Kollector Strike and Kollector Force also share a long list of technically advanced features and functions including:
• Simultaneously recording and transmission of 16 analogue channels as well as IP video streams
• Programmable Macros for variable recording, alarm and display events
• Geographic mapping and control GUI
• Logical camera groups irrespective of network location
• System updates over the network
• Flexible frame-per-second settings -view video at one fps while recording at another
Kollector Strike and Kollector Force offer customers the best of both worlds providing the immediate benefits of a DVR but with the expandability and functionality of an NVR-based system.
Vicon’s Megapixel Camera Range
Also on show at Intersec 2010 will be Vicon’s megapixel cameras which utilise ‘progressive scan’ to deliver cleaner images and more defined images on moving objects. Each of the five megapixel camera models offer the option of PoE (Power over internet) and user selection of image resolution from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 1024 as well as a choice of M-JPEG or MPEG-4 compression.
